Welcome to the website of the Advanced Coatings Applied Research Laboratory in City University of Hong Kong. The laboratory was established in 2001 with various funds. Our laboratory  occupies an area of approximately 110 m² in the Manufacturing Engineering Laboratories of the Department of Manufacturing Engineering & Engineering Management, City University of Hong Kong.  For both research or production, we have setup five coating machines (include magnetron sputtering and filtered arc type) and 10 surface characterization equipments. Our research activities are quite diverse, including fabrication of hard coatings and solid lubricant coatings, surface characterization, friction and wear, simulation, biomedical engineering, surface engineering, as well as nanotechnology. We have close research ties and joint programs with many universities and companies.
