PhD Research Thesis Topic
- The political economy and institutional politics of deforestation in Indonesia
Brief Abstract: I am exploring the attitudes, assumptions and intentions in political economy frameworks which underpin both deforestation and conservation measures in Indonesia. My current focus is on the legacy and evolution of ideological, socio-political and spiritual beliefs in the context of forest and economic policy. In examining stakeholder engagement and the implementation of free market conservation approaches such as REDD+, my research seeks to identify the assumptions and structures contributing to deforestation, and to suggest new strategies for engagement in anti-deforestation measures.
