Calligraphy is the art of forming beautiful symbols by hand and arranging them well. The 3-session workshop will equip beginners with fundamental concepts and knowledge of pointed pen calligraphy, Copperplate in particular. You will learn how to write Copperplate minuscules (lowercase letters) and majuscules (uppercase letters) through understanding the shape, structure and weight of Copperplate letters. You will also learn letter connections and spacing. Join us and bring home your own western calligraphy masterpiece!

Phoebe has a great passion for Western Calligraphy. She started her calligraphy journey after taking a Copperplate class. Over the years, she has taken calligraphy courses conducted by local and international calligraphers to study various calligraphy scripts and embellishment skills. She is particularly interested in Modern Calligraphy and Copperplate. Phoebe is dedicated to pass on the love for calligraphy to others.

(For the workshop fee, the $500 collected will be used as donation for sponsoring activities organized by ARO for alumni relations development and $100 will be collected for the calligraphy kit* and course materials.)

* Calligraphy kit includes an Oblique pen holder (left-hander will receive a straight pen), a nib, a pot of black ink, a lined guide sheet & fine quality practice papers.
