From: Campus Development Office

Temporary hoarding will be installed for safety considerations at the U-Circle from 23 June 2018 (Sat) for the demolition of the Sports Centre. The demolition work includes the removal of the flight of steps leading up to the Lau Ming Wai Academic Building (LAU). Traffic and pedestrian control measures will be arranged as follows:

Traffic Control

  1. Cars and goods vehicles (including vans) will not be allowed to enter the slip road from Tat Chee Avenue except in emergencies. Shuttle Bus and lorries are not allowed to enter from Tat Chee Avenue (Festival Walk Entrance);
  2. All goods should be delivered via the Nam Shan Chuen Road Service Entrance or the Service Road Entrance adjacent to LAU;
  3. Deliveries to G/F, LAU will require prior approval from the Facilities Management Office (FMO); and
  4. Private cars and taxis will be diverted to the new roundabout at LAU via Tat Chee Avenue (Festival Walk Entrance), and no waiting will be permitted.

Pedestrian Control

  1. Pedestrian circulation will be restricted outside the U-circle area and the route will be clearly defined by barriers and signs;
  2. The pedestrian crossing between U-circle and LAU will be moved and clearly signposted; and
  3. There will be corresponding adjustment of lift service that Lift No. 5 & 6 of LAU Building will serve all floors from G/F to 14/F.

The project team will endeavour to minimise the level of disturbance that the above measures might cause. Your understanding and cooperation with security personnel and traffic controllers for a safe environment during the construction period is much appreciated.
