Frequently Asked Questions
Question 1:
I am a current student. Do I need to make adjustment to my pre-registration schedule?
Answer
Your pre-registration schedule may not be appropriate for your circumstances. Use this as a draft version to further compile your class schedule on the basis of your curriculum requirements and study plan.
When your course grades for the previous semester are available, you might need to make further adjustments to your class schedule.
Question 2:
I have been granted credit transfer for a course but it still appears in my schedule. What should I do??
Answer
If the course is web-enabled, simply drop the course through the web. If the course is not web-enabled, use the 'Print Add/Drop Form' under the 'Course Registration' menu in AIMS, complete the form and submit it to the course-offering academic unit. Indicate on the form that you have obtained approval for credit transfer.
Question 3:
Where can I find the Gateway Education courses being offered in each semester?
Answer
Go to the website "Master Class Schedule". Click the button "Show Gateway Education (GE) Courses ONLY" and set 'all' for "Campus", "Level", "Offering Academic Unit", "Subject" and "Session". Do not select any time or days. Then press the 'Search Class' button. The master list of Gateway Eduction courses available for the semester will be displayed.
Question 4:
What should I do if I wish to reduce my credit load for the semester?
Answer
Students who wish to take a reduced study load in a semester (full-time students less than 12 credits) can print the Reduced Study Load Application Form under the 'Course Registration' menu in AIMS and submit it to your home academic unit for approval.
Question 5:
What should I do if I wish to exceed my maximum study load for the semester?
Answer
If you need to exceed your maximum study load due to very exceptional circumstance, you can print the Exceed Maximum Study Load Application Form under the "Course Registration" menu in AIMS to indicate the reason for this change and the number of credit units to be added. Then forward the form to your home academic unit for approval.
Question 6:
I want to change my lecture section but the section disappeared from the "Look Up Classes" menu in AIMS. What is happening?
Answer
In order to help you locate your course sections quickly, all closed (i.e. full) sections are not listed in the "Look Up Classes" menu. If you want to check the information on all sections associated with the course, go to "Master Class Schedule".
Question 7:
I intend to take an optional language course offered by the School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) and some physical education courses. Will these courses be counted in my study load and the grade recorded in my transcript?
Answer
These courses are non-credit bearing and will not contribute to your semester's academic load. For the physical education courses, pass grade or "Not Completed" will be recorded in your transcript. For the optional language courses offered by SCOPE, no grade will be recorded in your transcript.
