To introduce
to students the basic principles of techniques used routinely in modern
biochemistry and molecular biology.
On completion
of this course, students should be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding
on the basic principles and current status of analytical biochemistry;
- critically evaluate recent
publications in research and development of analytical biochemistry;
- apply conventional bioanalytical
techniques to chemical and biochemical research when necessary.

- Chromatographic and
electrophoretic techniques
Adsorption,
partition, ion-exchange, size-exclusion, and affinity LCs. Agarose
gel electrophoresis. PAGE. Capillary electrophoresis.
Fluorescence
microscope. SEM and TEM. STM and AFM.
- Spectroscopic and electrochemical
techniques
UV-visible.
Spectrofluorimetry. Circular dichroism. MS. NMR. Redox enzymes. Oxygen
