Teaching Excellence Awards
The CityU Teaching Excellence Awards were launched in 1993, the first of its kind among Hong Kong's tertiary institutions. The Awards pay tribute to distinguished teachers for their commitment to providing excellent professional education to the University's student body. The following academic staff members from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences have won CityU Teaching Excellence Awards.

Research and Other Awards
CityU awards scholars for their research excellence (CityU News · 6 November 2009)
Chair Professor Yang Tong from the Department of Mathematics, Chair Professor Leung Kwok from the Department of Management and Professor Cheng Sheung-tak from the Department of Applied Social Studies of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) received the Research Excellence Awards 2009 for their outstanding achievements. They were awarded the Grand Award, the Award of Excellence and the Certificate of Merit respectively.
Cheung Kong Scholars at CityU promote collaboration with mainland (CityU News · 17 September 2009)
City University of Hong Kong (CityU) held a reception to congratulate the University’s 12 academic staff that were elected as Cheung Kong Scholars on 16 September. The scholars from business, humanities and science and engineering fields contribute tangibly to CityU’s role in developing professionals and research in mainland China.
Lifetime contribution to public management recognised (CityU News · 23 April 2009)
Professor David Rosenbloom, Chair Professor of Public Management in the Department of Public and Social Administration, was recently granted the Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Public Sector Human Resources by the Section on Personnel Administration and Labor Relations of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA).
Rare Honour (Bulletin No.131 · 3 March 2009)
Professor Zhang Longxi, Chair Professor of Comparative Literature and Translation, has joined the likes of French Enlightenment philosopher and writer Voltaire in becoming a foreign member of the esteemed Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities. The Academy, established more than two and a half centuries ago, bestowed the honour upon Professor Zhang in recognition of his exceptional literary contribution to East-West cultural understanding and discourse.

Dr Yue Xiaodong, Associate Professor of Department of Applied Social Studies, was awarded the Outstanding Humanity Award organised by the International Association of Chinese Medical Specialists and Psychologists for recognition of his efforts in helping Sichuan earthquake victims.

Dr Bertha Du-Babcock, Associate Professor in the Department of English, has won the 2008 Association for Business Communication's Kitty O Locker Outstanding Researcher Award. This award is given to the individual from the discipline of business communication who has demonstrated consistent, significant contributions to business communication research and whose work has furthered thought in the interdisciplinary field of business communication.
Children and Adolescents at Risk Education project wins Outstanding Project Award (CityU News · 13 May 2008)
The Children and Adolescents at Risk Education Project, directed by Dr Annis Fung Lai-chu, Assistant Professor of Department of Applied Social Studies, received the Quality Education Fund’s Outstanding Project Award on 9 May.
Two outstanding scholars earn CityU’s Research Excellence Awards (CityU News · 17 March 2008)
CityU confers the first Research Excellence Awards to Professor (Chair) Zhang Longxi and Professor (Chair) Paul Chu Kim-ho to recognise their outstanding research achievements.
Dr Leung Lai-ching, Associate Professor, Department of Applied Social Studies, was named Research Leader 2008 by the Women’s Foundation of Hong Kong.
CityU student and teacher win American psychology awards (CityU News · 17 September 2007)
CityU graduate Jeff Yim has won the Student Award for Completed Research (Undergraduate) from the American Psychological Association and his teacher Dr Cheng Sheung-tak has been named Outstanding International Psychologist.
CityU scholars in humanities shine in Fulbright awards (CityU News · 16 April 2007)
Academics from CityU have been honoured in the Fulbright Hong Kong Senior Scholar Awards this year, winning two out of the three honours bestowed on promising academics in arts, humanities and social sciences in Hong Kong. The two CityU scholars are Dr Fan Ruiping and Dr William Taylor from the Department of Public and Social Administration.
Dr Catherine C H Chiu, Associate Professor of Department of Asian and International Studies, was runner-up in the Best Paper Award 2007 organized by the Journal of Contemporary Asia.
