Full-time Programmes
The Senate requires that all Undergraduate Programmes include six credit units earned in fulfilment of the University language requirement. The language requirements must be met either through studies to meet the University English attainment requirement, or through study of language courses approved by Senate to meet the requirement.
University English is offered at different levels, students must register for the appropriate level. Credits earned from University English courses count towards the University/College Language Requirement. For more information, go to English Language Centre.
Students should check the “Student Record” under AIMS for their “English Language Attainment Requirement". For courses fulfilling University Language Requirements, please check out from the University Programmes and Courses webpage maintained by Academic Regulations and Records Office.
Part-time Programmes
The College Board of Humanities and Social Sciences approved in June 2002 that part-time undergraduate students could be exempted from the University Language Requirement, pending a review of regulations for the programme structure of academic programmes.
