Am I eligible to enroll in the Education Programme? |

The programme is open to all UGC-funded bachelor’s degree students at CityU. Students of cohort 2008, i.e. proceeding to Year 2 in Sept 2009, may apply for the programme now. (Note: The application has already been closed.)

Do I need special approval to enroll in the Education Programme? |
| |
|
| |
Students must obtain endorsement from their CityU programme departments before applying for the Education Programme. Please fill in the application form and get the endorsement from your department and return it to the General Office of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS) located at Room G7612, 7/F Academic Building (Lift 3).
Acceptance of students for the Education Programme is at the discretion of HKIEd.

How do I register for the HKIEd courses? |

| |
Students will be requested to indicate the courses they wish to take in the application form for the Education Programme. HKIEd will do block course registration for CityU students. Approval of course registration and course add/drop rests with HKIEd.

Is there any intake quota for the HKIEd courses? |

According to HKIEd, the minimum intake is 15 and the maximum is 30. HKIEd has the final rights on course offering. |

Will the HKIEd course(s) I take count into my credit load at CityU? |
| |
|
| |
No. |

Can the credits earned by taking the HKIEd courses be counted to fulfill part of my CityU graduation requirements? |

| |
The credits earned by students from courses taken form the Education Programme will count towards the fulfillment of Out-of-Discipline (OOD) requirement at CityU and be recognized as fulfilling part of CityU’s graduation requirements, in terms of the number of credits required, through transfer of credits. |

Will the course grades earned from the HKIEd courses count towards the calculation of GPA at CityU? |
| |
|
| |
No, the grades earned from taking the HKIEd courses will not count towards the calculation of GPA at CityU. The course titles of the completed courses will be shown on the students’ transcripts but the course grades of these courses will not be recorded. |

Do I need to apply for credit transfer? |
| |
|
| |
Upon successful completion of the HKIEd courses, the Academic Regulations and Records Office (ARRO) will arrange credit transfer for the students. |

Will I get any certification after completing the Education Programme? |
| |
|
| |
The certificate of completion of the Education Programme will be issued by HKIEd. |
| |

Will CityU recognize the Education Programme in my transcript? |
| |
|
| |
Yes. A remark (e.g. “Minor: Education (offered by HKIEd)”) will be shown in the CityU transcripts for students who have completed the Education Programme. |

Will there be credit exemption for me to pursue further education studies after completing the Education Programme? |
| |
|
| |
Students who have successfully completed the Education Programme can apply for module exemption upon admission to the HKIEd Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary/Secondary) provided they meet all the admission requirements of the PGDE(P/S). For education related studies in other institutions, please consult the respective institutions as appropriate. |

Am I entitled to obtain a teacher qualification by taking the Education Programme offered by HKIEd? |

| |
The completion of the Education Programme alone does not constitute a teacher’s qualification in Hong Kong. Students who are interested in this area are advised to consult appropriate authorities, e.g. Education Bureau, HKIEd or local tertiary institutions offering recognized teacher training programmes. |

Do I need to pay extra fees for taking the Education Programme on top of my CityU tuition? |

Can I gain access to the HKIEd Library if I am enrolled in the Education Programme? |

| |
CityU students successfully enrolled in the Education Programme will be permitted to gain access to the HKIEd Library. For any enquiry, please approach the HKIEd Library. |

Who should I approach if I have questions on course design, contents, grades and other quality assurance issues? |
| |
|
| |
All the courses offered under this Education Programme are designed, taught and graded by HKIEd. HKIEd will look after all quality assurance matters relating to these courses. Please contact Miss Fiona Poon of HKIEd at 2948-6667. |

Will I be able to continue my study at CityU if I take these HKIEd courses? |
| |
|
| |
CityU students are expected to continue their programme study at CityU at the same time. Individual students should check if HKIEd courses’ time schedule would fit in their CityU schedule or not. |

If I would like to withdraw from the Education Progamme or drop a course I have already enrolled, what should I do? |
| |
|
| |
Please submit a written request to the College Office via email: chudgedu@cityu.edu.hk. The College Office will contact you and follow up . |

What happen if I drop out from the Education Programme after having completed one or a few HKIEd courses? |
| |
|
| |
Students could still get the earned HKIEd credits from completed courses. These credits could count towards CityU OOD requirement.
No matter how many credits are earned from the HKIEd courses, students should study a General Education (GE) course if he/she has not attained a Minor to fulfill the OOD requirement.
