The new curriculum allows students to gain in-depth knowledge through major studies, and diversify their learning with Gateway Education (GE) courses, electives, and optional minors. The curriculum structure is as follows:

Students admitted with HKALE Use of English below Grade D have to take 6 credit units of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses offered by the English Language Centre (ELC) before enrolling in GE English. Students who fail to perform satisfactorily in GE English courses will be required to take auxiliary tutorials in ELC concurrent with their GE English courses. EAP courses will be graded, but will not count towards CGPA. |

Students whose entry qualification in English/Chinese is below Grade D in HKALE AS-level Use of English/Chinese Language and Culture are required to take additional language courses. |

Major and college requirements should not exceed 72 credits. However, with the Senate's approval, the college and school may set a higher limit to meet professional accreditation requirements. |

Students admitted with Advanced Standing I will not be entitled to additional credit transfer on the basis of their entry qualifications. Instead, students may apply for course exemption based on prior study. Credit units are not earned for an exempted course. |
College requirement for Advanced Standing I (9 credits) Students admitted with Advanced Standing I will be required to take three College core courses prescribed by their home departments for respective majors. |
