Star training workshop for elite student leaders

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) established the Elite Leaders Programme in 2016. The programme aims to develop the potential of outstanding students to serve and to excel. Elite student leaders will have the chance to receive training in presentation and leadership skills and will contribute to College events by volunteering.

To equip elite student leaders with good presentation skills, the College organised a public speaking workshop on 9 February 2017. The star anchor of Viu TV, Ms Pinky Lo, an alumna of CLASS, was invited to speak at the workshop.

During the workshop, Ms Lo introduced the essential qualities of a proficient interviewer: curiosity, sincerity and creativity. The students were divided into groups for a role-play exercise in the setting of a live interview with a celebrity. Practical suggestions about standing positions, voice quality, interactivity and the content of the interview were discussed with the students after the exercise. To conclude the workshop, Ms Lo shared best practices in real-life cases.

All of the elite student leaders actively participated in the workshop and found the training challenging yet rewarding.
