CLASS faculty member honoured for teaching excellence

Many congratulations to Dr Nicholas THOMAS, Associate Professor in the Department of Asian and International Studies, for receiving the CityU Teaching Excellence Award this year.

Dr Thomas, the only awardee this year, is a committed teacher, whose motto, “learning from research: learning for life”, is exercised throughout his work at CityU. He explains ideas clearly to students of different ages and abilities, interacts with students to increase their comfort with learning and generally makes learning fun. His students find his lectures to be very interesting and memorable, offering excellent opportunities to think independently and build teamwork skills.

The award will be formally presented at the Congregation in November 2017, and Dr Thomas’ name will be added to the permanently displayed register of CityU Teaching Excellence Award recipients. Dr Thomas will receive a cash prize of HK$15,000 for professional development and a teaching grant of HK$150,000.
