Dedicated efforts of City-Youth Empowerment Project recognised

The City-Youth Empowerment Project (CYEP) of CLASS received a number of awards in the first International Volunteer Day (IVD) Hong Kong Celebrations organised by the Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS). The IVD Recognition Ceremony 2016 was held on 4 December at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to encourage the public to volunteer, and to raise awareness of the contribution of volunteerism.

Dr Elaine AU, Assistant Dean (Institutional Advancement) of CLASS and Founder and Convener of the CYEP, was presented with the Bronze Highest Service Hour Award of the Hong Kong Community Volunteers (HKCV – Corporate Member). In addition, contributors to the CYEP received 105 certificates in the 2015/16 HKCV Individual Awards, including the Distinguished Gold Award (five people), the Gold Award (23 people), the Silver Award (30 people) and the Bronze Award (47 people).

The CYEP is a non-credit bearing, voluntary service learning programme designed to develop CityU students to become competent volunteers capable of delivering the University’s long-term and regular community services. Dr Au and the student volunteers are congratulated for their dedicated service to the community.
