The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences has run the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition since 2017. The 3MT® develops student’s presentation and communication skills by requiring them to explain in non-academic language their research within three minutes. It is an opportunity to celebrate student’s research achievements and communicate their research with a wider audience; inside and outside academia.
The 3MT® competition was launched by The University of Queensland (UQ) in 2008. The competitions are now held in over 600 universities and institutions across 67 countries which comprise: Australia, New Zealand, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Philippines, India, USA, Canada, Mexico, Spain, France, Sweden, Poland, Iran, etc.
Winning 3MT presentations can be found on the 3MT website: http://threeminutethesis.org/3mt-showcase.
