Dr He has published three books/monographs. His research work has appeared in such journals as Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, International Journal of Public Opinion, Journalism Monographs, Intercultural Communication Studies, Media, Culture and Society, Communication Research, and Gazette. His research interests include: international communication, media effects, telecommunications policy, and new communication media.

His current teaching area is digital visual media. Directed more than 10 documentaries on major historical events, of which two have won international and regional competition awards. Currently directing a series of televised programs on global education hosted by the president of City University.
