Global Outreach

The CSE is dedicated to nurturing and developing talents, while simultaneously establishing an appropriate and applicable knowledge base that fully supports social and economic advances. To achieve these aspirations, the CSE seeks to further expand its global outreach on the back of a steadily rising international standing. This latter goal is led by a strong effort to foster greater academic collaboration with world-class institutions, promoting student exchanges, and expanding networking activities between the CSE and industrial/professional bodies.

Academic Collaboration

According to needs and activities, the CSE adopts several different forms of collaboration with premier universities and research institutes in North America, Europe, Asia and the Mainland China. Typically, these efforts include promoting academic exchanges, offering joint programmes, conducting joint research activities and providing joint supervision of research degree students.

The CSE puts in considerable efforts in recruiting internationally renowned scholars, as well as promising young scholars who show good potential in areas of existing strengths or areas for new development.

In line with the University's strategic plan, the CSE also endeavours to enhance the diversity of the student body through recruitment of international students.

Meanwhile, the CSE seeks to invite prominent academics to deliver public lectures or short courses to expand students' international perspectives.

Links with Industries

The CSE also has strong links with more than 200 companies/overseas institutions, including multinational corporations such as Philips, Nokia, Johnson Electric, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Siemens, DHL Global Forwarding, and Standard Chartered Bank. In addition to generous donations, these partner corporations provide students with internship opportunities.

While the financial assistance helps to further enhance the learning environment, the CSE also actively solicit other non-financial forms of support, like professional advice and guest lectures, from its collaborators.
