Energy is a major expense for CityU with 40% of energy use going towards air conditioning. This project will develop Hong Kong’s first Campus Air Monitoring (CAM) network and provide an evidence-based solution for a sustainable campus. The CAM network will use SEE’s developed air sensors and provide students and staff with campus air information through a mobile app to promote environmental awareness. Meanwhile, strategically important campus facility environments will be evaluated to identify possible air issues and, subsequently, we will work together with the CDFO on evidence-based solutions. The success of this project will make a major contribution to a sustainable campus, with the feasibility to implement smart building concepts to save energy and ultimately lower the cost of campus facilities.
