CityU Bread Run

CityU Bread Run attracts students attention to environment and social problems

28 Feb, CityU Green Connections collaborated with Student Development Services and Hong Kong Advanced Institute for Cross Disciplinary Studies and hosted the first CityU Bread Run Event. More than 60 students from different department have joined the event. Bread Run is a Feeding Hong Kong (Charity) initiative to engage public to collect surplus bread from bakeries at their closing hour and redistributed to communities in need.

This evening alone, CityU students has covered more than 45 stores and collected 1400+ bread. All stores are under Maxim's Cakes and there are altogether 82 stores available for collection. These numbers are still just small numbers of bakeries in Hong Kong. This event was a close encounter for the students to food waste problem in Hong Kong.

The event has received very positive feedbacks from students and CityU Green Connections has received request to host the event again in CityU and engage more students in the process.
