工作坊

Appearing in tandem with the staggering growth of the Asian economies are numerous contemporary discourses about the “Asian Century.” However, this "Asian Century" should be understood as "the return" rather than "the rise" of Asia. At the same time, it is vital to note that this "return" should not be viewed as Asia now replacing 20th century Western forms of hegemony. It is not a race for control, but rather a move towards a more balanced world that is no longer based on unilateral decisions with immediately negative consequences for percentages of the population. Rethinking global coloniality within the looming “Asian Century” is both challenging and necessary, as it allows re-conceptions of the past in our present and the implementation of global futures beyond coloniality.

The “Mental Health across Disciplines” workshops will explore and develop research beyond the traditional boundaries of individual disciplines in mental health. The aim is to enhance the visibility of cross‐disciplinary research in mental health and provide a legacy of networking and innovative collaboration, not least in considering how aspects of Chinese culture might be applied in new ways to mental health problems or issues. The series will seek new confluences of mental health research including but not limited to notions of nation, city and community.

We are interested in examining the epistemic and political potential of geopolitical of knowledge to redress the imbalance that coloniality has created and naturalized. Moreover, the analytic of coloniality is always already de-colonial thinking and it implies going beyond the conformity of established disciplines and their organs of authority.

第二個工作坊於2012年12月8日至9日舉行，主題是“風險“。環境、經濟和公共衛生等方面的專家就風險問題發表意見，開展討論。工作坊確定三個研究主題：風險溝通 (Communicating risk); 風險與信任(Risk and trust)；風險、公共健康和環境(Risk, public health and environment).

2011年上半年，研究員計劃就殖民性以及公共健康問題舉辦另外兩個工作坊。

研究院與2010年11月18日、19日舉辦第一個工作坊，題爲：生態與可持續發展。

爲期兩天的工作坊集合香港、中國、台灣、歐洲和美國的學者，以跨學科的方式思考人類文明對自然環境的衝擊，討論政府和機構的溝通如何更積極回應生態問題。

圓桌討論確定了研究院關於環境主題的未來發展方向，研究人員將從三個方面開展研究，申請研究資金: 跨文化環境主義(Environmentalism(s) across cultures); 都市生態學：政策，機構與表徵 (Urban ecologies: policies, institutions, representations); “遺產”、資源與游憩空间 (“Heritage”, resources, recreational space).

與會人員商定與2011年春舉辦第二個相關工作坊，就研究方向以及申請研究資助進行具體部署。
