Call for PechaKucha Speakers

In addition to the traditional form of plenary talks at ICRA 2014, we are going to open things up, so to speak, with several PechaKucha sessions during the conference.

As explained below, PechaKucha presentations are short, fast paced, and entertaining presentations (20 slides/pictures for 20 seconds each) intended to not only inform but to have fun. Presenters have the freedom to create entertainment anyway they wish, for example including those unusual laboratory results we have all experienced that were unexpected and humorous.

PechaKucha sessions are a great way to let people know more about you and your research. We are interested in all types of speakers from students, early career persons, to the most seasoned. Everyone with the confidence and interest to take the stage is invited to submit a one-half page abstract of their presentation to the ICRA 2014 Program Committee who will make the selections for participation. Presentation proposals will be received through December 15, 2013. Notifications will be returned by January 31, 2014.

Submit your proposals to Bill Hamel, Program Chair, whamel@utk.edu, or Jindong Tan, Program Co-Chair, tan@utk.edu.

PechaKucha or Pecha Kucha (Japanese: ペチャクチャ, IPA: [petɕa ku͍̥tɕa], chit-chat) is a presentation methodology in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each (six minutes and 40 seconds in total). The format, which keeps presentations concise and fast-paced, powers multiple-speaker events called PechaKucha Nights (PKNs). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PechaKucha
