The 3rd IEEE International NanoElectronics Conference (INEC) will be held in City University of Hong Kong from January 3 to 8, 2010.  The university has achieved phenomenal growth since its establishment in 1984.  Currently, it has a student population of over 26,000 enrolled in more than 145 programs at the associate degree, undergraduate, and graduate levels.

The campus is easily accessible by both public and private transportation.  CityU is located in Kowloon Tong on the Kowloon peninsula.  The university is adjacent to the Kowloon Tong Station accessible by both the Kwun Tong Line (Green Line) and East Rail Line (Light Blue Line) of the Mass Transit Railway (
MTR).

How To Get To CityU from Hong Kong International Airport

  • By Airport Express Line and Mass Transit Railway (MTR): Take the Airport Express Line from the Airport Station to Tsing Yi Station, and then transfer at the Tsing Yi Station to Kowloon Tong where CityU is located.  Upon arrival, look for Exit C2 which leads to the Festival Walk Shopping Center.  Go up to Level LG1 and find the escalator next to Shop LG1-10 which will take you to the CItyU campus via a short tunnel.  Please refer to the MTR Map for the detailed route.  A single journey fare for an adult from the Airport Station to Tsing Yi Station is HK$60 and from Tsing Yi Station to Kowloon Tong Station is HK$7.5.  The MTR website provides you with updated information on routes and fares.

  • By Bus: Take Citybus number E22 at the Airport (E22 runs from Chek Lap Kok to Lam Tin North and passes by Kowloon Tong) and get off at City University of Hong Kong Student Hostel, Cornwall Street.  The main campus is about 10 minutes on foot from the bus stop.  The adult bus fare from the Airport to Shek Kip Mei Park, Cornwall Street is HK$18.  The website of Citybus provides you with updated information on bus routes and fares.


  • By Taxi Taxi from the airport to CityU costs about HK$250.   Extra fare is charged for each piece of luggage.

How To Get To CityU from Hong Kong Railway Station

  • If you come on a direct train from Guangzhou, China, get off at the Hung Hom railway station which is the destination and then take the East Rail Line to the Kowloon Tong Station.  The ticket of the latter part costs less than HK$5.

How To Get To CityU from Shenzhen Airport

  • By Bus: Take airport bus 330 from the Shenzhen Airport to Lo Wu.  The bus ticket costs RMB 20.  Enter Hong Kong and take the East Rail line to the Kowloon Tong MTR station.  The one-way ticket from Lo Wu to Kowloon Tong is about HK$35.

  • By Taxi: Instead of taking the bus, you may take a taxi to Lo Wu.  It costs around RMB 160.  Enter Hong Kong and take the East Rail line to the Kowloon Tong MTR station.  The one-way ticket from Lo Wu to Kowloon Tong is about HK$35.

How To Get To CityU from Shenzhen Railway Station

  • The Shenzhen railway station is adjacent to the customs and immigration building in Lo Wu.  Enter Hong Kong and take the East Rail line to Kowloon Tong MTR station.  The one-way ticket from Lo Wu to Kowloon Tong is about HK$35.

Conference Facilities
 

Chan Tai Ho Multi-Purpose Hall will be the main venue for the opening ceremony, plenary talks, and Special Symposium on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in China.  The venue can accommodate more than 1,000 people.

Lecture Theaters: There are 18 lecture theaters along the university concourse with seating capacities ranging from 120 to 300.  Several lecture theaters will be used for the parallel oral sessions.

The university concourse (purple and green zones) will be used for conference registration, poster presentation, and exhibition.  Wireless internet connection is provided throughout campus and a limited number of computers will be available for emails and internet.
