Research Area:   Electronics and Telecom - Power Electronics
Abstract
This technology is a dynamic output compensator that can significantly improve the dynamic response of voltage regulators. The key advantage of the compensation method is that it is not necessary to redesign the power conversion stage and controller existing in voltage regulators. It only requires a simple circuit reconnection to the compensator. The operating principle of the compensation method is based on the use of a linear-type voltage source connecting in series, with the regulator’s output capacitor to inject the required voltage to compensate the output voltage fluctuation. To compensate the transient waveform fluctuation, the steady-state and transient power rating of the compensator is very low. The compensator is applied to a practical buck regulator with a type-III controller.

Uniqueness and Competitive Advantage
The technique can significantly enhance the dynamic response of a voltage regulator without modifying the original system.
