Within City’s University Discovery-enriched Curriculum (DEC) every student has the opportunity to make an original discovery while at the university. You can discover, invent, and create! The slogan “Discover&Innovate@CityU” captures the core competencies we want you to gain: experiencing what it means to create new knowledge; communicating, curating and cultivating that knowledge to benefit society; thinking from a global and collaborative perspective; capitalising on technology and social networks; and embracing a strong sense of social responsibility, sustainability, and ethics. As learning becomes a journey of discovery, you will acquire a passion for knowledge, the desire and ability to practice professionally at the highest standards, and to promote a culture of knowledge and innovation that spurs local and global advancements in your professional practice
Gateway education courses bring you cutting-edge knowledge in both traditional disciplines and in emerging interdisciplinary fields. They are a “gateway” to inspire and ignite your passion for knowledge and discovery across all fields of scholarship.
Academic honesty is the basis for conducting all original scholarly creative work, from the first assignments to the greatest discoveries. To understand the meaning and importance of academic honesty, you will need to complete an online tutorial and a quiz, and make a declaration of your understanding of this core principle when you first begin your studies at CityU.
The Intellectual Property and Academic Honesty Leaflet can be accessed here.
