Question
Prof Wong shared more insights with the students.

"After providing an overview of fundamental concepts in the modern understanding of gravity, we will delve into two commonly asked questions: How did Einstein's theory of general relativity predict the existence of black holes, and what happens when an object falls into a black hole? By exploring these intriguing inquiries, we aim to shed light on the fascinating predictions and consequences associated with Einstein's groundbreaking theory."

Professor Sung Ching Sam WONG delivered a science talk on the topic of "Gravity's Secrets Unveiled: A Journey into the Abyss of Black Holes" to the Form 3 students from Kwok Tak Seng Catholic Secondary School on 21 February 2024. To kick-off the talk, Prof Wong demonstrated freefalling using a water-filled bottle with the help of an invited student. This interactive demonstration impressed the students and piqued their curiosity about physics.

The insights and knowledge shared by Prof Wong have broadened the students' understanding of advanced levels of Physics, which they may not have had the opportunity to explore in depth during their secondary school years. This invaluable experience expanded their horizons and provided them with insight into the possibility of studying Physics as an elective in the remaining years of their secondary school education.

The College of Science at City University of Hong Kong offers a wide range of Popular Science Talks for secondary school students, primarily catering to Form 3 - 6 students. If you are a secondary school teacher interested in hosting a physics popular science talk, please visit here to learn more about it. Don't miss this opportunity to guide your students through the past, present, and future of physics!
