Visiting Fellow
Dr. Kitty Poon is a political scientist by training. She maintains a research interest in the constitutional development in Hong Kong and Hong Kong-mainland relations. She taught at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as an Assistant Professor after she had completed her PhD in Government and Public Administration at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She obtained Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University and Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey in the United States.

Kitty earned hands-on experience working for the Government of Hong Kong SAR. She served as the Under Secretary for the Environment from 2008 to 2012. She was appointed as a part-time member of the Central Policy Unit for the period of 2006 to 2008.

Drawing strength from her experience in the government, Kitty has enriched her research and teaching portfolio with a special focus on environmental governance. She was a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Industry Development and Environment Governance at Tsinghua University in mainland China. She is currently affiliated with the Centre for Business and Climate Change at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.

Kitty continues to serve the community as a non-official member of Justices of the Peace and a volunteer for a number of professional and charitable organizations.
