Haiti quake appeal
Through the support of staff, students and alumni, HK$65,667.90 was raised between 18 January and 1 February to help victims of the Haiti earthquake. The money will be donated to The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for its Haiti emergency relief operations.

 

Technology Transfer Forum
A CityU Technology Transfer Forum, "Advances in Nanocomposite Coating Technologies", organised by the Knowledge Transfer Office, will be held on 5 February for CityU staff researchers to share their latest output with local industry. Speakers at the forum include Dr Zhang Wenjun, Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Materials Science, Dr Lawrence Li Kwok-yan, Associate Professor of the Department of Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Management, and Dr Sam Shum Po-wan, Research Fellow of the Advanced Coatings Applied Research Laboratory.

 

International Week
Mainland and External Affairs Office will be holding International Week 2010 from 1 February to 5 February. Highlights of the event on 4 February include the flag parade, global runway and world New Year fair. Students from all over the world will be adorned in their national dress, bearing the flags of their countries and introducing the New Year celebrations of their respective nationalities.

 

Literary Awards 
The City Literary Awards have received an overwhelming response, prompting the organising committee to extend the contribution deadline to 26 February.
