Top Asian university
CityU moved up three places to rank 15th among the top Asian universities, according to the 2010 Asian University Rankings published by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) on 13 May 2010.

 

Accounting journal recognised
The Asia-Pacific Journal of Accounting and Economics (APJAE) jointly published by CityU and National Taiwan University has been recently included in the world renowned Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), making it one of the prestigious journals in the SSCI accounting journal list. In addition, The 2010 APJAE Symposium on International Trade and the China Economy will be held at CityU from 19 to 20 May, featuring distinguished speakers from Hong Kong, the Mainland and overseas. The symposium underscores CityU's efforts to promote international exchanges on global issues among academics.

 

Marine pollution conference
The Department of Biology and Chemistry is organising the 6th International Conference on Marine Pollution and Ecotoxicology to be held on 1–3 June. It will provide a forum for local and overseas experts to meet and discuss their research findings, as well as the latest scientific advancements and technologies, on key areas such as innovative technology in marine pollution, and pollution monitoring and remediation, which are of global concern.

 

CSE Student Project Exhibition
The College of Science and Engineering will be holding the Student Project Exhibition from 27 to 28 May, displaying about 90 projects by CityU students from various disciplines and departments. The exhibition not only showcases CityU students' creativity and applications of new technologies but also enables hundreds of secondary school students to learn about the relationship between science and our daily lives.

 

Cultural Salon
The Cultural and Sports Committee will hold the next City Cultural Salon on 27 May featuring guest speaker Mr Shih Wing-ching, Chairman of Centaline Group, who will deliver a speech on the topic "Self-organising Theory and Modern Management".

 

Kudos
CityU has been awarded a Certificate of Merit in the Public Sector category of the 2009 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) in recognition of its efforts to protect the environment. HKAEE aims to encourage businesses and organisations to adopt green management and present them with an opportunity to benchmark their commitment towards environmental excellence.
