  Biography
LI, Linda Che-lan specializes in intergovernmental relations and political economy in China. Her article proposing a new analytical framework to interpret Chinese central-provincial relations, published in Political Studies in 1997, won the Harrison Prize (best paper) award for the year. She earned her doctorate at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London, and was Visiting Fellow at the East-West Center, Honolulu (2000), and Fulbright Fellow at University of California, Berkeley (2005-06). She is Founding Fellow of the (former) Centre for Research on Provincial China in Australia and member of the Editorial Board of the journal, Provincial China. She had an early career with the Hong Kong government and several Legislative Councilors, and has been a regular commentator on local and Chinese politics in the local and international media. She recently completed two edited volumes on the Chinese state and responsible government in Asia, and a major research on institutional change in China, which focused on rural public finance policy and government reforms. Ongoing projects include the politics in demarcation of government responsibilities, and challenges in responsible governance. She enjoys working with students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in China and political analysis theory courses.
