1. introduce students to processes of environmental policy development, how policy agendas emerge and evolve, the key drivers and obstacles influencing and the main actors involved
2. provide students with a relevant base of natural and social scientific knowledge concerning the environment and environmental debates
3. identify the major energy and environmental challenges that the world is facing and the ethical dimensions of debates in this policy area
4. increase students’ environmental consciousness and cultivate their moral responsibility towards nature, the environment, and the welfare of human beings
