| Admission Requirements |
| The normal requirement for postgraduate registration is an excellent honors degree. Other qualifications may be acceptable, including professional qualifications, subject to individual merits. Satisfactory performance in TOEFL (at least 550 points paper-based total or 213 computer-based or 79 in internet-based assessment) or evidence of good English is required for candidates whose previous studies do not use English as the medium of instruction. Applicants for direct entry to PhD program must have a post-graduate master degree by research. For applicants with a taught-master degree (mainly by course work), they have to register for MPhil instead of PhD. The MPhil degree can be taken as a two-year full-time programme, or up to four years part-time. The PhD degree may be taken over three to four years full-time or up to six years part-time. |
