Thank you and Welcome Party for the two Deans of School of Energy and Environment

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) held an internal party on 31 August 2022 to express sincere thanks to Professor Chak Chan for his outstanding leadership to SEE over the past six years, and a warm welcome to the new Dean, Prof Chen Guohua, for joining SEE family.

Professor Chak Chan had served as the Dean(SEE) since December 2015. During his tenure as Dean, he achieved the growth of student population and expansion of offices and lab spaces; recruited many talented faculty members; nurtured close connections with the industry; strategically enhanced the employability of SEE graduates; significantly improved international recognition of our research in energy, environment, and sustainability; guided the School well on 10th-anniversary celebration and actively responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and online teaching and learning, among many other contributions.

The School sincerely thanks Professor Chak Chan for his significant contributions to the stable growth of SEE during his deanship. We are also grateful that he would stay with SEE as our Chair Professor of Atmospheric Environment for full-time teaching and research after stepping down from the administrative post of Dean(SEE). His professional dedication, academic achievements, and support for the sustainable development of the School and the University are highly appreciated.

At the same time, SEE is pleased to welcome Professor Chen Guohua, Chair Professor of Smart Energy Conversion and Storage, as the new Dean of the School from 1 September 2022. With Professor Chen Guohua's distinguished academic accomplishments and administrative experience, we are confident he will lead SEE to new heights.
