Abstract

Environmental management is a topic that is no longer anonymous to our society.  Interactions between human beings and the environment have become an essential aspect of our daily activities, and measures must be implemented to protect, maintain, or improve the delicate balance between economic and environmental sustainability.  The Climate Change Conference (COP26) brought parties together to further accelerate the goals set to tackle climate change, and the HKSAR Government has recently announced Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2050, striving to achieve carbon neutrality before 2050.  The world has been banded together by the need of environmental management, and it is time for environmental practitioners to contribute to the cause for a better environment.  Environmental management is extremely diverse in nature as it constitutes knowledge from various fields, and ample opportunities exist in many areas.  This presentation will focus on potential career paths in the water/wastewater, solid waste, and energy management industries, and explanations will be given on how theoretical knowledge could be applied in the society.
