Abstract

In a very causal and relaxing manner, the speaker will share some interesting environmental engineering projects in Hong Kong which he was personally involved over his 28+ years of full-time working experience, including several landfill gas utilization projects as well as a unique technology that tackles “smelly rivers” applied at Shing Mun River and other waterbodies. The speaker will also share his personal know-how on the possible career paths in the field that students can take upon graduation.

About the Speaker

Mr. Chan was born in Hong Kong and has been working in the field of environmental and waste management industry locally for over 28 years. He is a member of various professional institutions such as the HKIE, HKIQEP, HKIEIA, EMAHK, CIWEM, IMechE and IGEM. Mr. Chan was the Chairman of the Hong Kong Waste Management Association in the early 2010s. He is currently serving as a member of the Environmental Disciplinary Advisory Committee of the HKIE. He has given advice to many young professionals and talents, assisting them to better focus on their academic and professional development paths. He is currently the Senior Environmental Business Manager at China Harbour Engineering Company Limited.
