Structure and Management of Technology Licensing at CityU

CityU licenses its technologies through CityU Research Ltd. (CityUR), its subsidiary and licensing arm. All licensing activities are supported by the KTO staff. The duties of the parties involved are as follows:

Knowledge Transfer Committee(KTC)	Responsibilities: Keep under review the University Policy on intellectual property and oversees its implementation at the University
CityU Research Ltd.(CityUR)	Responsibilities: Licenses technologies from the University and sublicenses them to third parties. Board of Directors: Vice President (Research and Technology), presiding as Chairman; Convenor of Patent Working Group; Director of Finance; Asso VP of KTO; Up to three external members
Knowledge Transfer Office(KTO)	Responsibilities: Provide executive functions, eg., business negotiations, licensing agreement preparation, contract administration, marketing and promotion; Negotiate the best possible deal for CityUR based on sound and prudent business principles and established guidelines.
