ABSTRACT: For a given function in the L2 or the Hardy space H2, one can achieve fast decompositions in energy into series of basic functions of which each has non-negative analytic phase derivative, or, alternatively, instantaneous frequency. The talk will compare several types of such decompositions together with their algorithms. The key words include Nevanlinna decomposition, Hilbert transform, Takenaka-Malmguist system, Cauchy-wavelet, Best approximation by rational functions of order less than n, greedy algorithm (matching pursuit).
