    A skin-integrated multimodal haptic interface for immersive tactile feedback

    Prof. YU Xinge and his collaborators developed a thin and soft multimodal haptic feedback interface that can be directly integrated with skin. Different feedback modes in the interface are used to provide users with diverse sensations, such as force, temperature and texture rendering.

    Ultrasound-activated Chemotherapy Enhances the Precision for Eradicating Deeper Tumours

    Prof. WANG Lidai and Prof. ZHU Guangyu in the Department of Chemistry developed “sono-sensitized chemotheraphy” (SSCT), which is a new form of ultrasound-activated chemotherapy, to further enhance the precision for eradicating deeper tumours with centimetre range of tissue penetration and minimizes side effects.

    Prof. YU Xinge Awarded RGC Research Fellow Scheme

    Prof. YU Xinge has been awarded for the RGC Research Fellow Scheme (RFS) 2023/24. Prof. Yu received a fellowship grant of HK$5.2M for a period of 60 months for supporting his research project on Skin-Integrated and Multi-functional Closed Loop Human Machine Interface: Sensing, Actuation, and System Integration.

    New Wearable Interfaces Bring Scents to VR

    Dr YU Xinge and his collaborators in Beihang University developed two small, wireless wearable interfaces that bring smell into virtual reality. One can adhere to the skin between the nose and mouth like a bandage, while the other straps on beneath a headset like a face mask. The interfaces could be helpful for people who have anosmia, or an inability to smell.

    CityU signed a collaboration agreement with the China Resources Research Institute of Science and Technology and Shenzhou Space Biotechnology Group to commence joint scientific experiments in outer space. The first project was sending dLhCG, a joint repair material developed Prof. WANG Dongan and his research team, to outer space for undergoing six months of research experiments.
