Senior management from Cornell University visits CityU campus

Professor Michael I Kotlikoff, Provost of Cornell University (Cornell) and Professor Lorin Warnick, Dean of Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine visited City University of Hong Kong(CityU) on 8 Sep.
 
During their visit, the two met with 12 new PhD students of the Interdisciplinary PhD Programme in Veterinary Science which is a  joint postgraduate programme between City University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences, Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Biomedical Science (BMS) at CityU. Each of student is jointly supervised by a faculty advisor from CityU and a faculty advisor at Cornell. During their PhD candidature, students are expected to spend up to a year at Cornell’s Ithaca campus to further their research.

Professor Michael Reichel, Dean of CVMLS said that the programme provides an unique opportunity for young scientist to pursue further research in veterinary science and to learn the latest research techniques from world class faculties. Professor Michael Yang, Chair Professor and Head of BMS also joined the session.
 
After the session with the students, Professor Kotlikoff and Professor Warnick visited CityU’s state-of-the-art research facilities, such as the new research and teaching laboratories and animal holding facilities, and exchanged ideas and experiences with the CityU’s faculty on teaching and research.
