CityU spotlights the rich and diverse cultures of Southeast Asia
The largest celebration of Southeast Asian cultures ever held at a Hong Kong university kicked off on 19 April at City University of Hong Kong (CityU).
CityU’s
spotlights cultural activities from the diverse and fascinating societies in this region. The events have been organised by CityU’s Southeast Asia Research Centre (SEARC) in collaboration with regional consulates in Hong Kong.
The consuls-general of Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam in Hong Kong officiated at the opening ceremony together with Professor Way Kuo, University President, Professor Martin Painter, Acting Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and Professor Mark Thompson, Director of SEARC.
The festival, which is taking place from 18–21 April, features writers’ forums, a cinema series, culinary delicacies, information booths and cultural performances such as street theatre, traditional dances and various musical forms.
