CityU student wins the regional interpreting contest

A final-year student on the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Linguistics and Translation programme at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has won the top 3 prize in the Hong Kong Regional Final of the Fifth Cross-Strait Interpreting Contest.

Competition was keen among the 14 undergraduate and postgraduate students in the regional finals. In addition to CityU, the competitors came from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Hong Kong.

Together with the other two winners of the Hong Kong Regional Final, Li Jiachen, who is in his final year at CityU, will represent Hong Kong in the international interpreting contest to be held in Xiamen.

The contest is jointly organised by Xiamen University and the Taiwan Association of Translation and Interpretation. The Department of Linguistics and Translation at CityU was the organiser of the Hong Kong Regional Final. The other regional finals were organised in mainland China, Taiwan, the UK, among others.
