EUPLANT Lecture: Understanding China’s Global Governance Ambitions in light of the Decline of the Rule of Law in Hong Kong
CityU School of Law, in cooperation with EU-China Legal and Judicial Cooperation (EUPLANT) Project, have jointly held a lecture via Zoom on 23 November 2021. We were honoured to have Professor Eva PILS, Professor of Law at King's College London, to give a lecture titled “Understanding China’s Global Governance Ambitions in light of the Decline of the Rule of Law in Hong Kong”.
The Lecture was kicked off with welcome remarks by Dr HE Tianxiang (Assistant Professor, City U School of Law). Dr He introduced the background of the speaker and thanked all the participants for their support for the lecture.
Professor Pils briefly introduced China’s governance system and the impact to Hong Kong after the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law 2020. She then focused on the implications for China's broader global governance ambitions given the current developments in Hong Kong.
The Lecture was concluded with the closing remarks by Dr. HE Tianxiang, who thanked Professor Pils for her valuable contributions and all the audience for their attendance which made this Lecture a great success and fruitful.
香港城市大學法律學院與中歐法律與司法合作專案(EUPLANT)在 2021 年 11月 23 日合作,通過 Zoom 平台舉辦了一個專題講座。學院很榮幸能邀請到倫敦大學國王學院(King's College London)法律學院的教授Eva Pils博士主講「以香港法治減退為視角管窺中國參與全球治理的雄心」。
講座由城大法律學院助理教授何天翔博士(Dr. He Tianxiang)致歡迎辭揭開序幕。何博士介紹了 Pils博士的學術背景,並感謝所有參與者的出席及支持。
Pils博士簡單概括了中國的治理體制以及 2020 年實施香港國家安全法後對香港的影響。她亦分析推行有關法律對中國地域利益及促進多邊主義的影響。
及後,香港城市大學法律學院副院長兼中歐法律與司法合作專案的香港區項目主任林峰教授(Professor Lin Feng)以評論員的身份加入講座,並分享他對香港國家安全法的看法。
最後,何天翔博士向講者致謝,感謝她為大家帶來一場富有啟發性而精彩的講座。
