University Smart Identity Cards

The University Smart Identity Cards design and usages are managed by the Office of Chief Information Officer (OCIO).  Current Identity Card issuing offices included:

  • Student Identity Cards
    • Academic Regulations and Records Office (ARRO)
    • Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies (SGS)
    • School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE)
    • Community College of City University (CCCU)
  • Staff Identity Cards (Staff Cards, Family Cards, Courtesy Cards, etc)
    • Human Resources Office (HRO)
  • Other Cards (General Access, Visitors, Car Park, Contractors, etc)
    • Computing Services Centre

In 2018, the OCIO has embarked on a project to upgrade the dated Identity Card chip to a newer and more secured chip.  The upgrade of infrastructure (including access control readers, turnstile readers, handheld readers, and USB readers) was completed.  The OCIO is working closely with HRO to replace all the staff-related Identity Cards to the new one in 2019.  For Student Identity Cards, they will keep using the previous generation card until their graduation.
