A Glimpse of Working World in Shanghai

Business Orientation Programme (BOP), organised by the Career and Leadership Centre, encourages students to explore their career interests and personal potentials. To further enhance members’ employability, the scope of their career exploration is even expanded beyond Hong Kong. This January, members of the programme were given the chance to visit various renowned corporations in Shanghai to understand the work life, job opportunities and economic development in this world city of China.

Peggy Lee Pui-lam (Business Administration, Year 1) shared with us her first visit to Shanghai, “I have learnt a lot from the visits to corporations such as SAIC Motor, the China Merchants Bank and NuSkin Group. Besides that, the tours of Lujiazui Financial Centre, Shanghai Free Trade Zone and Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center were also very informative.”

Annie Cheung Shuk-yu (Business Administration, Year 1) reflected, “The sharing session at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) made me realise that most university students in the Mainland give themselves long-term or short-term career planning and would look for various ways to reach their target. I started to reflect on my plans for the future and what I must do to accomplish my goals.”

CityU students visited SISU and attended seminars.

Students had a fruitful learning experience through meeting professionals of various industries.
