Global Outlook and Foreign Language - Cultural and Language Immersion Scheme

Contributor: Miss Vera Lau (Office of the Vice-President (Student Affairs))

CityU provides abundant opportunities for students to develop global outlook and improve foreign language skills. The Cultural and Language Immersion Scheme (CALIS) is one of the opportunities which allows participants to engage in learning activities including language classes and homestay in an overseas foreign language speaking environment for 4 – 6 weeks with financial support from the university and collaboration with premier universities across the globe. Since the pilot run of CALIS in the academic year of 2007/08, students have received sponsorship to join CALIS tours in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and etc. In the academic year 2019/20, CALIS will be extended to non-English speaking countries. Besides CALIS, Cultural Immersion Programme for Belt and Road Regions & Greater Bay Area will also be launched to support students to explore history, appreciate culture, and raise awareness and respect for diversity in targeted cities or countries. Visit our website for more information and stay tuned for application details released by your College or School.
