CityU's graduate honoured by professional organization
Dr Yum is the first CityU student honoured with this award, reflecting CityU's dedication to grooming talent in scientific research.
Dr Yum entered CityU as an undergraduate in the Department of Electronic Engineering in 1999. After finishing his undergraduate programme in 2002, Dr Yum continued his studies at CityU and obtained his PhD in Electronic Engineering this year. Over the last six years, Dr Yum's dedication to science research has brought him many awards in local and international competitions.
Looking back, Dr Yum said one of the most important things he learned from CityU was problem solving skills, which will certainly help him in his career. "I'm sure I'll miss CityU, my teachers and friends here," he said.
Dr Yum has already started working in an international technology firm, taking care of the company's development strategies and one of its production lines. And he is still a frequent visitor on campus because his new job often brings him back.
"CityU's facilities in science research are excellent. If I can work as a bridge between CityU and the company, both sides will have some joint projects and that will be a win-win situation for both sides," he said.
Dr Yum added that he wanted to do his part to help CityU's development. "I hope in the future I'll be able to help the University in different ways, such as through donations or hiring CityU graduates," he said.
