CityU hosts international statistics and engineering conference
Around 150 international scholars congregated for the third International Conference on the Interface between Statistics and Engineering (ICISE) hosted by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) from 15 to 17 December to share insights and exchange views on the latest developments in the fields. The conference was organised by the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management at CityU, and co-organised by the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology.
Mr Leslie Tang Wai-kong (second from left, front row), Commissioner for Census and Statistics, HKSAR Government; Professor Way Kuo (first from left, front row), President of CityU; and Professor Tsui Kwok-leung (second from right, front row), Head of the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, gave speeches at the opening of the conference on 15 December. Professor Arthur Ellis (first from left, second row), Provost of CityU, was also among the attendees.
ICISE aims to provide a platform for innovative creation, development, and dissemination of research ideas and results on the interface between statistics and engineering for the support of complex system design and operation, quality and reliability improvement, and optimal proactive decision-making. Scholars discuss topics such as applied statistics, data mining, quality and reliability engineering, among others.
