President’s Award – Professor KIM Sungmoon (Department of Public Policy)
Professor KIM is one of the awardees of City University of Hong Kong’s The President’s Awards (TPAs) this year; his contribution to and achievements in research and professional education are greatly appreciated.

The TPAs were created in recognition of the achievements of high-performing CityU faculty whose exemplary contributions to research and professional education have led to recent successes in areas such as the Research Assessment Exercise and QS rankings.

Among Professor KIM’s research interests are comparative political theory, democratic theory and the history of East Asian political thought, and his essays have appeared in journals such as American Political Science Review, British Journal of Political Science, Constellations, Contemporary Political Theory, Critical Review of International Social and Political Philosophy, History of Political Thought, Journal of the History of Ideas, Philosophy East and West, Philosophy and Social Criticism and The Review of Politics.

Professor KIM’s most recent publication, Confucian Democracy in East Asia: Theory and Practice (Cambridge University Press, 2014), received an Outstanding Academic Output Award from South Korea’s Ministry of Education.
