The aim of the Majors and Minors Fair was to familiarise students with the programmes and learning activities offered by CLASS and its departments. Held between 2 and 4 February 2016, the Fair consisted of a variety of activities, including “Majors and Minors Talks”, “Exhibition”, “Advice from Students”, “High Tea with Freshmen” and “Happiness Index: Exhibition and Competition”. The Fair not only provided students with useful information about undergraduate majors and minors at CLASS, but also created an interactive platform enabling CLASS students, mentors, advisors and faculty members to communicate face to face. 

We were delighted to host Dr Peter HO Ka-nam and Mr Thomas CHEUNG Tsun-yung, two new Council members, Mr TSE Bo Long, a distinguished alumnus, and Professor Way KUO, the University President, at the High Tea session on 4 February 2016. Accompanied by Professor Xiaowei ZANG, Dean of CLASS, Professor Dennis WONG, Associate Dean (Student Life and Learning) of CLASS, Dr Peppina LEE, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Curriculum) of CLASS and Professor Hon CHAN, Assistant Dean (Internationalisation) of CLASS, the guests were introduced to the activities in the Fair. At the end of the High Tea session, Professor Zang expressed his appreciation for the students’ work and thanked all of the participants for contributing to the Fair.

Following the High Tea session was a certificate-presentation ceremony for the winners of the Best Presentation Award in the Happiness Index and Quality of Life in Hong Kong, Osaka and Seoul Exhibition and Competition. Certificates were presented to Group 3 for the Osaka Study Tour and Group 4 for the Seoul Study Tour by Professor Zang and Mr Tse, respectively. The College congratulates the winners on their outstanding work.

The College also hosted a group of secondary-school students at the Fair. The students received information about the majors and minors offered by CLASS, which gave them useful insights into university life at CityU.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and students of CLASS for their participation in and contribution to the Fair, which made its various activities meaningful and enjoyable.
