New Book Series Spotlights East Asian Philosophy for Global Scholars

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) of City University of Hong Kong is delighted to announce that Professor KIM Sungmoon, Associate Dean (Postgraduate Studies) of CLASS and Chair Professor of Department of Public and International Affairs, has recently launched a new book series “East Asian Philosophy and Political Thought” with Amsterdam University Press. He will assume the role of the sole series editor, supported by the editorial board comprising scholars worldwide.

Despite increasing interest in East Asian philosophy and political thought among English-speaking academics, Western philosophy continues to dominate the field, creating a hurdle for philosophers and political theorists publishing their book-length research outputs on the mentioned subject.

Consequently, this newly launched book series caters to scholars in East Asian philosophy and political thought, publishing influential works on normative and applied ethics, moral philosophy, and political theory and thought across all East Asian traditions. By promoting East Asian philosophy and political thought globally while respecting its historical and contemporary significance, the series aims to foster a deeper understanding of the field.

Stay tuned for upcoming publications in this academic book series. For more information, please visit the Amsterdam University Press’s website.
