In the first round of bidding in 2016/17, three City University of Hong Kong projects received Public Policy Research (PPR) grants. Two of the three funded projects are led by faculty members of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS). In 2015/16, HK$3.21 million was awarded to CLASS faculty members, accounting for 19% of the total PPR funding provided in this year. Overall, CLASS was ranked the first in Hong Kong in terms of the amount of PPR funding received in 2015/16.
First launched in 2005/06 by the Research Grants Council, the PPR scheme is now administered by the Central Policy Unit of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to promote academic research in higher-education institutions with a clear relevance to public policy making.
