Ten CityU Social Work students granted HSBC Social Work Scholarships Scheme awards

Ten CityU BSocSc Social Work students have been granted awards under the HSBC Social Work Scholarships Scheme 2015/16.

The HSBC Social Work Scholarships Scheme was established in 1965 and was HSBC’s earliest scholarship scheme. The scholarships are offered to social work students to encourage them to dedicate their career to the social work profession. A total of 79 social work students received the award in 2015/16 and ten of the awardees are students of the BSocSc Social Work programme from CityU’s Department of Applied Social Sciences (SS), College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.

YU Wing-Ki, one of the recipients from SS, was delighted to receive the recognition from HSBC. “The journey of becoming a social worker is not easy and I am happy to see my efforts being acknowledged,” she said. “Without the generous scholarship from HSBC, it would be much harder to continue my professional training, which is essential in social work practice. I would like to thank all the teachers of the Social Work programme at SS who nurture me to pursue the best and strive to become an outstanding social worker.”
